Generally, you bring items in and we pay after we go through them and price them. For clothing, we require you bring these items in to be priced. This allows us to see the condition as well as the brands up close and to check for stains, rips, etc. We have great customers, and we know you carefully check for that. And we are careful ourselves. Yet we still catch things after we buy them and have to throw items away because we can’t sell them. It happens. We are all human. So it’s not that we don’t trust anyone. It’s just super hard to accept clothing we can’t see in front of us.
For larger items, we invite you to message us to see if we can take an item at the time you want to sell. If so, we cannot give you a firm price by text or Messenger. We can only do that in person. But we do answer messages to avoid you bringing things in that we are not in the market for. .
Buckle up. In the name of transparency, this is long. :)
For clothing, we look at the brand, the style, the condition, the season, and whether or not we are going to have to launder or press items to make them presentable for sale. Some things are just really hard to evaluate if they have been in bags, baskets, or bins and wadded up. We may still consider them, but that does affect the price. Also consider that if you bring clothing end of season, while we may still buy them, that’s a consideration in price as well. Then we price to you an amount that will allow us to still make a profit if we are not pricing at the top of the price range for that item, because if we do that, that usually means we have to hold it in inventory for a long time.
Please understand, we are hoping to price items for sale so that they are attractive for people to shop with us regularly. And we want sellers to return to us as well, season after season too. So our prices will likely be in between what people want to pay you at a yard sale and less than what you will make on individual sales if you did them yourself on online reseller sites or on Marketplace. The plus with us is you don’t have fees, shipping, or dealing with the details of the sale yourself on a sales platform, nor do you get lots of messages, no shows, requests for info to scam you, etc. And, of course, you can get 10% more if you shop and sell on the same day in our shop. That’s about as specific as we can be as to how we price without actual clothing or items in front of us.
You are not obligated to take what we offer. Our pricing may not meet your desires. That’s okay. We are trying to strike a balance of fairness for you and profitability for us while building a local community resource for families to be able to both buy reasonably and sell or trade items in order to keep more money in their pockets and in our local community. To that end, we try to provide very fashionable but reasonably priced clothing and used but still nice equipment and toys. But it is certainly okay to tell us you would rather keep an item and sell it yourself because you are hoping to get more than we can offer you at that time. We are definitely not offended by that. We will still be friends and welcome you back with the next things you bring. But please don’t assume we are trying cheat you or that we think your items are not nice if we give you a low offer or turn some items down. As you can see there are so many variables on any given day as to why we cannot take them at times or why we price them differently at different times.
Yes. In the continental US only.
Yes. And you get an extra 10% off on that day for anything you purchase with trade-in credit.
Normally, no. If you are bringing a very large amount without an appointment, please understand we may request extra time to process a large buy. Otherwise, appointments are not necessary. Do check our Facebook Page or message us though if you want to be sure we are taking clothing. Occasionally we are full or overstocked and may halt buying for a week or two, but that is rare.
As long as clothing is clean, we are fine with it in bags, but it's better if it has been folded. We do prefer totes but will take bags. Clothing that is clean and folded will be priced more favorably than wadded clothing, but we don't necessarily turn away clothing in bags. And no, we are not judging your laundry habits. :) We are just trying to avoid having to launder or press the items ourselves to get them back into shape. But we don't reject them outright if they are not perfectly folded and organized. Thank you for understanding.
Please understand that clothing that is not clean or that has foul odors won't be processed.
Clothing with bugs will not be processed. And while we don't think anyone intentionally brings clothing like that, it has happened. We are scared of spiders. :) And other crawly things. We understand sometimes you pull things from storage, and one may have sneaked in. But if you don't mind having a look through before we do, we would appreciate that to see if you feel they need a new laundering.
